MALDEF Redistricting Plans

The following are redistricting plans for the Assembly, Senate and Congress, presented by MALDEF to the California Redistricting Commission.  These plans aggressively create new majority-minority districts by both finding pockets of voters cracked by current lines, and unpacking current lines.  These plans are by far the most interesting presented to the commission.

The following tables provide a snapshot of each district in terms of current incumbent(s), partisanship, votes for Governor in 2010 and ethnic breakdowns.

The districts in each of the following sets can be downloaded in PDF or viewed in the jpg gallery.

State Senate

The greatest news story out of the Senate Districts will be 1) if nesting is followed, and 2) deferrals… not necessarially in that order. Redistricting Partners ran a deferral report on the MALDEF plan and found 4.7 million deferrals.
